Spring Breaking It // part 1

So I'm definitely overdue for an update. I always think about my blog, but never seem to have the time or the motivation to sit down and type out a post, until now...

This week is Adaleigh's first official "Spring Break" since she's in school, so I decided to take the girls to spend 5 days with my parents in Florida. The fun was unending!

Let me just point out that I grabbed Adaleigh's favorite Lalaloopsy doll for about $10 from an online yardsale and this doll sells for $200 on ebay and amazon. Amazing deal. She would've been happy with just the doll, but knowing my family and all... we (Easter Bunny included) had to spoil the girls, Dollar Store style. Adaleigh also made some pretty artwork, notes, and directions for the Easter Bunny.

We got to spend some time with my relatives at my Uncle's church for Easter Sunday (love this tradition... sometimes it doesn't feel like a holiday unless I go to my Uncle's church). My mom accidentally matched girls perfectly, so I had to snap some pics at church!

Then we went to my Aunt's house for lunch. Easter was a bittersweet day though since it was the first Easter without my cousin Bethany. She is in so many of my Easter memories considering we spent at least 20 Easter Sundays together. I love her and miss her so much. I think that was one of the reasons why I wanted to be Florida this year... because I wanted to be close to everyone to remember Bethany and honor her because she loved holidays as much as me and loved spending time with our family. It was also good to have another Easter with grandma. She has alzheimer's, so it is always good to be able to have her here another year. Easter is also when we celebrate my grandma's birthday every year. Here's a video from 4 years ago...

The girls had there own little egg hunt at my Aunt's house. That was lots of fun... they are both avid egg hunters. They didn't want the fun to end so they kept hiding and finding the eggs over and over again.

Easter was a success for the girls. It's always so heartwarming for me to be at home in Florida for holidays and enjoy a little bit of tradition with my relatives even when traditions are changing, people are growing and moving, and we recently lost our dearest Bethany. Family is the most important thing and sharing moments with them is one of the greatest gifts.

Silly string and bubbles were a big part of the girls week... I'm pretty sure they played with them every day and we even had to take a special trip to the Dollar Store to buy some more.

Stay tuned for more...

I'm a College Graduate!

And 8 and a half years later, I have a college degree. So what if it took me twice as long to finish my Bachelor's degree, I'm proud of myself for never quitting. I attended 4 different colleges, lived in 3 different states, had 2 babies, but finally have 1 degree. I got the official email the other day...

I am stoked! I've thought about pursuing a Master's degree, but I'm definitely taking some time off first. I think I deserve a little break. ;) I've started applying to a million places. I've loved my job at Starbucks, but it's been a part-time position to mainly act as a "mommy's day out" and a way for me to have extra spending money. I'm officially ready to enter the full-time working world again. So here's to me finding a job... Cheers!

UPDATE: After 3 different full time job offers and several other prospects... I declined them all because nothing felt right. Sure, the jump on the pay scale would be nice, but the long hours never settled with me. I'm a mom first before anything else. Some moms are not fortunate enough to have the option to work... some just HAVE to. I'm thankful that Alex works and makes the money so I'm not required to. I did a lot of thinking, praying, and weighing the options with each job offer, but it all came down to I want to be with my kids. I love being the one to drop off and pick up Adaleigh everyday from school. I love being home with Aubriella instead of throwing her into daycare. I love not having to stress out about who is going to watch them over summer break. So with that being said... I'll continue my part-time job at Starbucks, and my full-time job as mainly a stay-at-home mom to my girls. Who knows when I'll enter into the workforce again, but for now I will wait and enjoy my time with my girls while I can. :)
